Hiking Tips shared in local newspaper

I just wanted to share an article that was written about me and hiking safety in our local newspaper, The Silver City Sun News.

About Gila Hiker

First I hiked 100 different trails in a year, now I write a monthly article in Desert Exposure about a local hike. Come on out to Silver City..... and bring your hiking gear!

  1. Nice article, congrats!

  2. Congrats on the bit of publicity! That’s a great story with a important lesson. I don’t have a GPS yet, but now I’d consider taking it on a few test runs before relying on it.

You’ll have to think of a pretty great challenge to top 100 hikes in one year. =)

    • Yes, you should ‘test’,the GPS – – okay, you’re really testing yourself, but it’s good to know how to use. We always say to prepare for what you’re NOT expecting, not for what you do expect. As far as the next challenge, it may be “Bucket List” type stuff. Keep up the good work with yoour challenge!!

  3. great article, linda! i must confess, i don’t take a fraction of that stuff with me when i hike. but then again, i hike in southern new england, so i’m never very far from civilization. or cell phone towers.
